Orion HD fabricates Swarovski star and holiday pop-up designed by Daniel Libeskind

Orion HD is proud to be the fabrication partner to Swarovski on the new Rockefeller Center star designed by Daniel Libeskind. Produced in Smithfield, RI, the 900 pound star measures nine feet and four inches in diameter and contains 70 spikes covered in over 3 million Swarovski crystals. The points encompass 140 LED lights that emit 106,400 lumens radiating a spectacular glow from within. Orion’s team of industrial designers, craftsmen and engineers worked closely with the Swarovski and Libeskind teams for 2 years to produce the complex design. For close-up viewing, a life size replica of the star is on display on the ground alongside a pop-up Swarovski holiday kiosk. The stunning 200 square foot glass and steel structure, also designed by Libeskind and produced at Orion, has an angular, faceted, mirror polished form. The star will be lit on November 28th, 2018 and the Swarovski holiday shop is open now.
